Belvedere Punk Calgary Toronto Concerts

Last Friday I ventured to the Opera House on Queen East not with the intention of mourning the death of a beloved band, but to celebrate it.

Belvedere spent their career playing basements across Canada. Sadly, they never grew past mid-day performances at the Warped Tour, or recognized across the border.

After seven years apart, Belvedere reunited once more for four shows spread across Canada.

My nerves that they wouldn’t live up to my high-school memories faded fast. They played a well rehearsed set that included almost every song they ever recorded.

This photo was taken the song after the bassist Jason Sinclair severely injured his ankle. Fortunately, much like OFWGKTA, something so insignificant as a broken foot could never derail a set.

Only time will tell if Belvedere will ever reappear again. However, even if they never play another chord, last Friday couldn’t have been a finer eulogy.
